More of the Same

This book is patterned after my essay collection, “A Double Dozen and Six.” Here are another thirty-two short essays on a variety of subjects. Some are autobiographical, like a nine day bout of hiccups and its curious result; the charms of strip mine country; what happens when you jog with your eyes shut; Mother’s uniquely decorated Christmas cookies; the un-scout-like lessons learned at the Scout Cabin on cold winter’s nights; a remarkable Easter ham. There are also opinion essays: on language, or why some free speech costs $350,000 a word; Bling Bling, or our attraction to bright, shiny, things; Your call is very important to us…or maybe not!; the desire to look younger; the risk of facial hair. Then there is Michael and the professor, or who was gulling whom? There are other articles. After eighty-two years there is a lot to remember and there are many opinions.
