Baked clay cylinder of Sennacherib, King of A ssyria, from B.C. 705 to 681, inscribed with an account of eight campaigns of the king, including the capture and sack of Babylon, the invasion of Palestine, and the siege of Jerusalem; it is dated in theeponymyof Bel-imurani, i.e., B.C. 691. B.M. No. 91,032. This cylinder was found among the ruins of a palace of Sennacherib under the mound of Nabi Yunis, and was bought by Colonel J. Taylor, Consul-G eneral of Baghdad in 1830, from whose representatives it was bought by the Trustees of theB ritish Museum in 1855. the corridor which passed the chambers and led to the river, and a considerable number were kicked on to the river front by the feet of the terrified fugitives from the palace when it was set on fire. The tablets found by Layard were of different sizes ;the largest were rectangular, flat on one side and convex on the other, and measured about 9ins. by 6| ins., and the smallest were about an inch square.
