Besides it, the major factors responsible for bringing about occupational mobility among the Scheduled Castes, especially inter-generational and intra-generational Occupational Mobility. And which caste is leading so far as occupational mobility is concerned can also be understood. In this book, author found that, after the religious conversion under the leadership of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, the Mahars converted to Buddhism and threw of their traditional attitudes, beliefs and customs. Therefore, their life style has undergone a big change. The Buddhist community is more aware about the educational and occupational development and their rights as compared to other communities among the Scheduled Caste. Hence, the development of the Buddhists could be treated as an ideal model for all the Backward Classes in India. The movement led by Dr. Ambedkar, brought positive results among the Buddhists. The Buddhists are superior to other Scheduled Castes in terms of education, economical, social and cultural development and it is the contribution of Dr. Ambedkar and his movement.
