Fourteen year old Solomon lives for his dog Duke, adventures with his cousin Ze in the lush valleys of the Paraiso River in Brazil, and, above all, to sing and play the piano—for which he has a rare gift. But Solomon's life is shattered when his family is forced to uproot to the slums of Rio. The future looks bleak and Solomon's musical talent becomes a distant memory.
