Understanding Shakespeare's Tragedies: Macbeth, Othello, Hamlet, Julius Caesar, Antony and Cleopatra

"Understanding Shakespeare's Tragedies" is primarily intended for undergraduate college students. Each tragedy is fully examined over three chapters to correspond to the three weeks of university lectures: Chapter 1: Lecture on Background and Act I, Chapter 2: Lecture on Acts II and III, Chapter 3: Lecture on Acts IV - V and on Key Issues. This book should prove useful to students in the US as well as those living abroad. Many survey courses on Shakespeare in the United States and elsewhere may cover the plays at the rate of one a week. Such a pace could leave some students a little puzzled or confused about certain aspects of individual plays. Thus, this book would serve as an appropriate resource to fill in some of those gaps that may occur. A key word in the title is "understanding." The purpose of this book is to provide as thorough an understanding of each Shakespeare play as possible.
