From My Memories Sent to prison in Afghanistan in 1932 at age 6 as a political prisoner, Khaled Siddiq spent 15 years there without a trial, verdict or definite sentence. He was not allowed any form of education, therefore he secretly taught himself how to read and write Arabic, French, German, English, and Farsi - his native language. After release from prison, he and his family were put under house arrest for another 5 years. This is his true story of the trials and tribulations he and his family endured, from coping with the merciless executions of his uncles and cousins to the severe mistreatment they experienced during and after imprisonment. Siddiq recalls numerous memories about his family and friends, beginning with his childhood and continuing to the start of the Communist regime in Afghanistan in the late 1970s. His recollections shed light on some of the darkest chapters of Afghanistan's history and provide insight regarding the social ills and political injustices that brought the country to its current state of chaos and anarchy.
