Meadow Lake was more or less your typical Midwest farm town. There were more dirt track teams than police officers, more bars than churches, and more livestock than people. Stories about hunting dogs or little league games usually made the front page of the paper, but the adults remembered a time when that wasn’t the case. Then came spring, and with it the shocking murder of a high school senior. Her death scared some, angered others, and destroyed her best friend, Jenny.
