South Pole / Polo Sur (English and Spanish Edition)

December 14, 2011, marks the 100th anniversary of the first known human presence at the South Pole--that of the Norwegian exploration party led by Roald Amundsen. Not coincidentally, it is also the publication date of Yvette Neisser Moreno and Patricia Bejarano Fisher s inspired translation of South Pole / Polo Sur, this bilingual journey in poems by Venezuelan poet Maria Teresa Ogliastri.

Unlike Amundsen s journey, the story South Pole / Polo Sur tells is not about the arrival of a world-renown explorer, but that of an average man who treasured a dream of grandeur. South Pole / Polo Sur is a book of courage, a challenge to us to sign on for this voyage from the mountains of Colombia, down the Amazon River to the South Pole.
