Trust Not

TRUST NOT is about Captain William G. Haneke's survival memoir/saga during the Vietnam War and recovering from his wounds. American advisor Cpt. Haneke was advised to "trust not a soul" when entering the arid coastal area of South Vietnam. The poignant advice forced Cpt. Haneke and his motley MAT's team (discovered in a joy house) and his "gone native" medic into clever and sometimes humorous survival tactics/capers against corrupt politicians, military, police, drug lords, pirates, and a host of other war and medical challenges. After life's cruel detour, Cpt. Haneke is once again facing who to trust. Despite traumatic brain injury and a multitude of crippling wounds, Cpt. Haneke put his faith in "the calming voice." Historically, the book provides insight into little-known aspects of America's involvement into Vietnam; roles and challenges of an infantry American advisor and his team; American Navy; tenacious roles of the Cambodian, Vietcong male and female troops; resourceful Chams; Montagnard slaves; frightening conflicts facing the S. Vietnamese citizens; diverse culture and geography of Vietnam; and revolutionary medical advancements first used by doctors at American evacuation hospitals in Vietnam. Trust Not provides a new understanding and appreciation of the sacrifices made by everyone involved in the Vietnam War.
