Halfway

People often ask why I write sad poems; why is everything so gloomy? True a lot of my ramblings are dark, but to me in the darkness of life is where we learn who we are and who those are around us. One doesn't learn to appreciate love when they are absorbed in it; they learn to appreciate it when they have lost it. We don't savor life until we see it taken from someone else, thus is the nature of being human. We take for granted our existence and in an instant we are thrust into chaos. How we respond to that unwanted journey into blackness molds our souls and shapes us as mortal beings.
