The Elusive Immigrant

Sawyer Fawkes, a young Chartered Accountant, intends to issue a ‘going-concern’ opinion to his client Curtis Distillery effectively driving the company into bankruptcy. One month later a suspicious fire in London’s East End destroys the distillery endangering his own life and killing the Director of Marketing, the Lord Mayor’s daughter. Scotland Yard accumulates overwhelming evidence implicating Fawkes as the arsonist. Overwrought he flees the country to avoid arrest. A nightmare journey culminates in a perilous illegal entry into the United States, joining millions of undocumented aliens. In San Francisco Fawkes, using an assumed name, ultimately opens his own practice as a Certified Public Accountant. He develops expertise as a successful forensic accountant before he is faced with his ultimate challenge—finding a master tax criminal code-named Judas. This leads him into a world of violence placing his own life in danger. Ultimately Judas is unmasked in a life-threatening conclusion inside the world-famous Transamerica Pyramid building.
