Dr. Meryt Brownstone is a talented cardiologist at a local hospital where she spends her extra hours developing a breakthrough for transfusion patients--synthetic blood.
A single woman living in upstate New York, her lifestyle doesn't allow the luxury of getting involved with people.  As an ex-military officer who still works as an undercover mercenary for the US government, personal drama is something she can do without.
 
But her solitude is broken when Dr. Fritz Daniels mysteriously appears, seemingly drawn by her blood research, and joins her team in the laboratory.  Then Rene, his equally mysterious blue-eyed brother, mesmerizes Meryt in a way she can't ignore.  Did she know this man before?  Why was she so mystified by him?  In her battle against her feelings and her better judgment, her heart wins and her plan to avoid any personal drama is thrown out the window.
