Hosea and Gomer: A Love Story

The story of Hosea and Gomer is a love story indeed. However, it is a different love story that we may be accustomed to where both people freely love each other. This is a story of unrequited love that is offered consistently and unconditionally. Hosea loved Gomer even after she abandoned him, bringing him shame and leaving him bereft of her love. His love eventually frees her from a life of impending slavery and compels her to love him in return. Their story is meant to be a picture of how much God loves all people, even those who have wandered far from His love.
