Firedance

"Firedance" traces discontent of Chicago factory workers involved in the Wobbly movement as the union enters the beginning of its death throes. Violence erupts as hard core dissidents, dejected in their labor struggle in the aftermath of the 1918 Sedition Act stage a vendetta against the factory owner. First using persuasion, harassment then sabotage, a strike ends when a guard is murdered near the picket line. Yet it is not a historical novel; it is a story of how the individual human spirit pitted against acknowledged impossible odds evolves as men struggle to find meaning in lives that have little tangible evidence of justifying an existence.
