Stone in a Sling - A Soldier’s Journey is the true coming-of-age story about one young man's unique journey well into adulthood. The story is developed with a series of vignettes that span his life as a youngster in Baltimore, a "missionary kid" in Colombia to the present where he was a retired veteran returning to worn-torn Iraq. Filled with emotional and spiritual revelation, Scott becomes a man in his own way from marriage, college, and through an interesting military career outlining the sacrifices made and the places visited. An unlikely set of experiences and people accompany him along the way – from living among the indigenous people in Latin America, to behind the wall in East Berlin, tangled in a game beyond his control with a Soviet KGB officer. He takes you from the joys and struggles of marriage and fatherhood, to gathering intelligence from Iraqi prisoners during Desert Storm; and forming key relationships with the locals in Balad, Iraq that would help lead to the eventual capture of Saddam Hussein. Out of a 25-year Army career, Meehan emerges a victor over his doubts, fears, and the hatred of his enemies. Ultimately, amidst the loyalty and freedom that accompany true love, he uncovers himself and rekindles his faith.
