Background:

In July 2011, Michele Bachmann and Tim Pawlenty were campaigning in Iowa. Pawlenty staked his entire campaign on a strong victory in the Iowa Caucuses. But Bachmann stood in his way. Knowing that he had an uphill climb in Iowa, Pawlenty tried to downplay his chances there to reduce expectations, in case he lost the state. Pawlenty's advisor implied that Bachmann had all the advantages for winning Iowa, including some "sex appeal."
