Sustainable Universities

The field of Sustainable Development and the concept of the Sustainable University have attracted the attention of many academicians around the globe, and have thrown up a number of important questions. This book has the answers to all these important questions: What is Sustainable Development and what constitutes a Sustainable University? Where did the story of Sustainable Development begin, and where are we now? And finally, of course, how do we measure whether a university is considered sustainable or not? In answering the above questions, the authors have compiled definitions, concepts, and the history of both Sustainable Development (SD) and Sustainability in Higher Education (SHE). They highlight the related theories and identify the many components of the Sustainable University, focusing on the various assessment tools used throughout the world.
