The Padrones' Sons Part 1: They Fought The Mob For 100 Years

Not all Italian/Americans were mobsters. Many of them vigorously opposed the Mob. "The Padrones' Sons" is a story of one such family spanning several generations. From southern Italy to New York to the suburbs, these brave men and women put their lives on the line to fight against the Mob. But the war never ends. In 2010, three young strangers discover they are not who they thought they were. They are cousins whose identities were changed as infants to protect them. Now they want to know about their family and their real background. When their ancestors from Calabria, Italy traveled to America in the 1880's, they were hoping to find a better life. They were not typical immigrants. They were not poor or uneducated. They were the son's of men who had money, power and authority. What they encountered was prejudice from Americans and pressure and violence from the Mafia. But they were strong and determined to succeed in a new country. They were also men of integrity who would neither cooperate with criminals nor tolerate them. Their sons, the first to be called 'Italian/Americans' faced other problems. They chose to fight the Mob alongside their fathers, but they also had to survive the Great Depression and the Second World War.
