Extraterrestrials choose an exceptionally brilliant human for a risky mission to retrieve a powerful device crafted on Earth for decades without the knowledge of its inhabitants. The aliens, a group of deserters from an ancient galactic union are inexperienced with warfare. Restricted by their limited capacity for deception and incapable of comprehending violence, they have miscalculated the person they chose for the job.
