The Practice of the Presence of God

The Practice of the Presence of God is the profound wisdom and teachings of a great man of God named Brother Lawrence, a Carmelite monk. It is a collection of his letters and records made of his conversations. A constant theme is the development of an awareness of the presence of God. In the book, Brother Lawrence undertakes to explain his method in acquiring the presence of God. The basic idea can be summed up as resolving to make the love of God the end of all one's actions. Doing for the love of God and seeking Him more than anything else. We're taught also that in order to form a habit of conversing with God continually, and referring all we do to Him, we must at first apply to Him with some diligence: but that after a little care we should find His love inwardly excite us to it without any difficulty.
