Description
This is the 2nd Edition of "Converting your print book to ePUB & Kindle versions: Using InDesign CS5.5 & CS6": It includes the basic instructions for converting your InDesign file to an ebook.
THIS BOOK ALSO UPGRADES "Writing In InDesign Second Edition" TO "Writing In InDesign: Revised Edition 2.5" FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO HAVE BOUGHT THE 2ND EDITION
One of the best things about writing in InDesign is that you end up with a fully formatted book which can be easily converted to an ePUB or a Kindle book. Of course, it's not quite that easy. Ebooks are very restricted in design by the abilities of the ereaders: iPad, Nook, Kobo, or Kindle. This book gives you simple, straight-forward instructions about what needs to be done and why. It covers what is working today, and what is coming in the near future. It does not cover how to crack open the ePUB file and rework the XHTML & CSS. I no longer consider that necessary. You can do this, and it's not too hard. A bit complex, but that's the case with all book design. Get your questions answered without the need for coding. Important announcement! This booklet is current as of August 2012 This field of design is changing so rapidly that anything a month old is at least a bit out of date. The good news is that the methods I will cover here will still work. The bad news is that some of them may no longer be necessary. Earlier this year, we were dealing with image size issues for the Retina display of the new iPad, for example. I found new information about dealing with lists in April and had to test it before I could write that portion of this chapter. This books covers the release of the new Amazon Kindle Export plug-in for CS6.
