The Adventures of Funny, The Amazing Fish-Bunny

Mr. C is the choirmaster at Saint Raymond's Church in the Parkchester section of the Bronx. His children's choir is multi-racial and multi-ethnic. With so many varying backgrounds and voices, he struggles to explain the perfect mouth positioning to elicit each student's full singing potential. "Think of a fish's mouth, and push your front teeth forward like a bunny...like a Fish-Bunny!" And so the story of Funny the Fish-Bunny is born. Since Funny's mom is a rabbit and his dad a fish, he has the perfect mouth for singing-rounded, with slightly pointed bunny teeth. In spite of this handy anatomical feature, or perhaps because of it, Funny doesn't always feel like he fits in. He's not much good at zigzag hopping or swimming swiftly, and to make matters worse, Billy the Bullfrog, the school bully, has taken a bull's-eye interest in him. Yet, Funny, like many young children, has an innate gift. And that gift is about to collide with destiny in a pitch-perfect story of one child's discovery and resilience. The book is vividly illustrated and includes a series of discussion points to help parents initiate conversations about children's fears and bullying, individual talents and personal strengths, and-the cornerstone of all success-the importance of practicing.
