Description
“Confessions of an Ordinary Man: Living Beyond Bullies” is a first-person examination of bullying, which for me took place in the 1970’s and 80’s. This book is the journey of my life, demonstrating the life-long effects, which years of bullying, abuse, and childhood humiliation can bring. I went from being the target of bullies to being a target of a sexual predator. I am an ordinary everyman and my journey is not extraordinary because I did anything fantastic, it is because I survived it. My story is compelling because everyone has experienced middle school and can recognize or empathize with pain. While I had only a passing interest in the church, it was my discovery of faith that saved me from the depth of the dark spaces of childhood abuse and self-abuse of my adulthood. This story is the journey of my life from the devastation of my childhood through the neurosis of my early adulthood to my self-actuation and redemption. It shows how the temporary acts of bullying can have dramatic consequences for years after the torment ends. As well, it shows how well meaning church going people can cause pain and how an atheist could bring me back to my faith in God.
