Description
Dear regular, everyday human, I address you with the utmost respect and kindness, which I have heard I lack both. However, the opinions of relatives rarely matter. I pose a question to you: who is the real monster out of this pair of humans? Pay attention, you may be quizzed later. Gwenivere DeVine is a naïve, ambitious fighter, who has lived under house arrest for half of her life. In a fit of blind anger and belligerence toward her jailers . . . I mean her family, Gwen runs away. Her only desire in life is to compete in the annual goodwill gladiatorial competition, challenging the most controlled and accomplished A.N.G.E.L. users of her generation. We all dream about that someday, right? While Gwen may be human, her people are most unusual. They have dedicated their lives to inventing. The Inventors (creative, right?) devised a vaccine against death and the A.N.G.E.L. system that allowed the people to enhance certain physical attributes. To reach her goal, Gwen must lie, steal, break into high security buildings, and perform numerous other felonies in order to enter the competition. At any cost, she is determined to win and prove to the world she is the greatest Inventor to ever live. William Khiton is a simpler story. Will was Gwen’s childhood friend, who at the age of fourteen was rumored to have annihilated their hometown and the peaceful residents. Since then, Will has disappeared and only rumors remain about his existence and misdeeds. Personally, I believe my mother is the kindest, sweetest, and greatest human being to ever live (as required by law since she gave me the most un-payback-able gift in the world) and Will is a despicable, slimy low life. But then again, I am biased. I promise I will try to refrain from showing it as I tell the story (disclaimer). Will these two forces collide once more? If so, what will happen? A whole lot you can bet . . . not to state the obvious, but I am required to be vague for dramatization purposes. Love, Orion DeVine (Daughter of Gwenivere, Granddaughter of Artemis, Great Granddaughter of Emma, Great-great Granddaughter of M . . . Well, you will just have to wait to find out.)
