AD Admire ~ Memoirs: My Fifty-two Years as an Air Traffic Controller

Those 52 years of controlling aircraft gave me a wide experience in a variety of air traffic fields, but my 20 years of Navy air traffic was what I chose to write my memories of air traffic about. It include a multitude of memories (some not even related to air traffic) that I will always remember and cherish: close companionship; stressful incidents and humorous incidents; split-second decisions to keep air traffic flowing smoothly; and a sense of really doing a great job after a particularly heavy traffic watch (especially getting all of our birds back aboard while operating in the Gulf of Tonkin during (“NAM”). The early years of Navy controlling allowed me to see the transition from WW II aircraft to aircraft of the future-jets
