In a long-forgotten cave, Paul Keran discovers an ancient gateway that leads him across the Universe to the world of Hypolia. As opposing factions from across Hypolia gather in the nation of Jarint, Paul becomes embroiled in the midst of its civil war. Aided by new and old allies, he seeks to protect the villagers who have entrusted him with their wellbeing.
