The Social Contract

The Social Contract stresses the connection between liberty and law, freedom and justice. The ruler is the people's agent and never its master. Law must be derived from the general will of the people. Expressing the views on the rights, liberty and equality of all people Rousseau's has created a powerful work that will last for generations to come. This will provide skeptics and supporters of Jean Jacques Rousseau enough to argue about for years to come, being one of the most widely taught text in the universities.
