Irrigation Between the Rivers: History of the United Irrigation District

Colonizers of the original Cochrane Ranch in Southern Alberta from above Hill Spring, Alberta to Standoff, Alberta between the Belly and Waterton Rivers soon found that the area was prone to drought and water shortages. The United Irrigation District was formed to provide irrigation water to this area between the rivers. This book is a history of the irrigation development between the rivers from 1919 to the present. It is a history of vision, development, and disappointment, courage, rebuilding, and moving forward – a tribute to good honest hard working people who made it possible and who continue to ensure the future of irrigation between the rivers.
