These Human Shores Volume 1

Life is the affirmation for all that there is, all that has come into being, all that will pass through time. If we humans know anything about life, it is because we live. The series of anthologies: These Human Shores, of which this book is the first, will explore the nature of life from birth to death. What is the correlation between poetry and the stages of life? Why, everything! As we celebrate life with poetry, we celebrate poetry with life! The theme of this book was chosen by our founder, Ron Wiseman; and his name speaks rightly, for he is a wise man. As editor of These Human Shores, he has creatively and wisely chosen poems that will not only celebrate life, but will reawaken the feelings we all have about the wonder and splendor of living. Although it is just a book, and as such non-living, the fountains of words that are displayed upon these pages speak from the lives of brilliant poets from all over the world, bathing us in their lifelight. We have so much to be grateful for; our joys, our tragedies, our loves and our losses, as each has become part of who we are. Without life, there would be no poetry, without poetry it would be much more difficult to share our experiences, for poetry, like no other art, can transcend language to speak directly to our hearts and spirits.
