It is the first in a trilogy, and of the saga detailing the rise and fall of a self-made rancher and beautiful woman who, driven by selfishness and pride, destroyed her own family. It portrays a wake of destruction that followed Leah's domineering ways and alcoholic manipulations as she placed herself and sins above the cares and needs of all those around her. This is based on the life of Marvin William Dunbar, his wife and his son Don Dunbar.
