Mathematical Mystery Tour Volume I

This is a textbook for a liberals arts mathematics course. It covers material to give an appreciation for what mathematics is and how it is used. It provides a historical, philosophical, psychological, and conceptual approach to the subject. It covers the basics of number and number systems from the naturals to the complex, it also covers reasoning from propositional to symbolic, as well as fuzzy logic. The purpose is to provide a connected and purposeful overview of what mathematics is and how it has shaped civilization. We pose and consider many unanswered questions to motivate the material and the student.
