Description
The italianissima, a race of miniature humanoids created by genetic engineers to be mined for their genes, and imbued with the best genetic material- cancer resistant, no sickness, fast healing, no aging, faster, more agile, and three to five times stronger than humans-had a will to live and broke free from their horrible fate, and burned the lab down. Their charismatic leader, like Moses, led them into the forest, where they hid until they were encountered by the benefactor, who happened to be an engineering genius at all things miniature. With the charismatic, daring, dominant, and extremely capable leader of the miniature humanoids, and twelve others to pilot his miniature machines, through stealthy late night robberies, and then investing the proceeds, the benefactor became immensely rich, and once he had enough money, he bought a remote island, which he divided between himself and the miniature humanoids, in appreciation. Each of the 13 tiny operatives who executed the raids were given shares in the billions the benefactor amassed, with the largest going to the leader, and they became the patriarchs of the clans. Until the benefactor died from the plague that wiped out all of humanity, he aided them in constructing their cities and importing goods and raw materials. Nova Roma Organizations picks up 225 years after the arrival on the island, now called New Rome. The italianissima have been the lone humanoids on earth for over a century, and the charismatic leader who freed them from the laboratory looms large over the culture, as he created the guidelines by which they live, and his clan is by far the wealthiest and most dominant. The italianissima value freedom above all else, and believe their survival depends on it. In the New Roman world the functions of government are performed by the business community-the men of honor of the organizations, and the princesses of the convents. Them, and those on the expedition in the savage lands, are opportunists, everyone else is a craftsman. In 225 a river of wealth is flowing into New Rome from the savage lands and there is a pile of gold to be made, but among the relics coming from the ancient world are forbidden ideas. Whether people like it or not, New Rome is changing, and one organization Boss, in the mold of Julius Caesar, is at the forefront. The mafia meets ancient Rome meets the wild west.
