Sub-Zero

Stewart is convinced that Britain is in the grip of a lasting winter foreseen by an old friend called Tom. Eight years previous Tom had instructed him to make his way to a safe haven in the Pennine hills should this prolonged freeze come to pass. He sets out from southern Scotland after reminding Jane, a mutual friend, of what Tom had told them. Jane and her younger sister Kate attempt to make their way from Carlisle as another of Tom’s friends, Melissa, journeys north from Ely in Cambridgeshire.

As the social order crumbles, the four characters struggle through the snowbound landscape in order to reach the supposed safety of Tom’s residence. Finding hardship and pain along the way, they battle through the freezing conditions, but what will they find at the end of their respective journeys?
