My mother told me that: So it has to be true, right?

I want you to look at this book as a fact or fiction hunt. We will examine some things that may influence how you act around people, what you think about certain foods, and things that go bump in the night. I want to take a scientific approach to many old wives' tales and see if they help or hinder you in life. I also want to have some fun with this book and smile at some of the things people believe to be true. I would like to clarify what the true meaning of legends, old wives' tales, adages and proverbs are by definition. I want to examine the origins of these many words of wisdom that are available. It will seem silly to you some of the things that I present. Depending of what part of the world you grew up in, some sayings may not make any sense or shock you that they are not true. My hope is that we can make the gap of worldly space and culture smaller. I also believe that understanding why we think the way we do will enhance peace and good will toward our fellow man.
