Black Gods and Civilization of Ancient India

India was home to one of the oldest, most sophisticated and widespread civilizations of the ancient world. People always assume that the ancient people of a country resembled the present day inhabitants. In a place like India where people can have the blackest or palest of complexions which colour is original to the land?
