The Call of Jesus: Discipleship and Mission in the Context of the City

Our lives are being shaped not by chance and, in many ways, not by choice but by forces that are vying to bend us a particular way. We are, by default, disciples of the world. And as the world’s disciples our lives begin to take on a particular shape. This is the world into which Jesus steps. Contested space in which the world is actively shaping lives of doubt, insecurity, individualism, greed, and exhaustion. Jesus steps into this world to contest for a different kind of life. The kind of life found in the disciples that he makes.
