Backward Progress: Thoughts on the Christian School of the 21st Century

In the past twenty years, I have studied and taught in four different Christian schools in three different states. In that time—whether in the West, Midwest, or East—I have seen one common thread: there is always tension between the joy of learning and the burden of the system. I have also come to believe that what makes good teaching and quality learning is timeless, and we need not despair or betray conscience in order to achieve these ends.
