What The Road Passes By: A Photographic Collection of People and Places in North Carolina

Color photos and stories from a 3-year back packing journey around North Carolina. My name is Marty Harris and I was a photojournalist during the 1980's. I shot many of these photos on a wonderful cross state hiking trip that started on a beautiful autumn day in 1987 and ended in May of 1991. This was a 3-year odyssey across one the most beautiful and exhilarating states in the country. The photographs from this book were all made as I discovered these unique people and places where I had never been to before. I hope you enjoy this trip across the mountains, the piedmont and the coast.
