A near-fatal explosion in childhood leaves Joseph “Josey” Johnson with multiple scars and a reckless attitude that shapes his entire life.

An adrenaline junkie by six, young Josey is getting drunk regularly by eight. As a teen, he tags along with his older brother’s cowboy buddies, getting into fights, partying, and trying to get laid as often as possible. He’s happy enough, but the idea of a lifetime as a New Mexico cowboy really doesn’t appeal.
