Beams of Light

To express in poetry is to build a scaffold of words to raise the level of thought and feeling. Poetry, to be enjoyed, must be felt as well as followed with the mind. It seeks to engender in others the same level of feeling that originally inspired the thought. Poetry is music set to words capturing the beauty of sunsets, the joyous song of the birds, and makes immortal the magic of children's laughter. The barriers of age are removed, for in rhymes the aged dream again the dreams of the youth; yet the young through it glimpse the wisdom of the aged. —J. Vaughn Boone
