A Private Commentary on the Bible: Song of Solomon

The purpose of this commentary is to describe what the Song means in a biblical context. The Song of Solomon is all too often portrayed as a sort of sex manual for Christians, or as erotic or pornographic literature, or as a story of illicit love (fornication, adultery). In this commentary the biblical injunctions against sexual immorality and for married love are faithfully followed. Symbols and figures are explained by the normal use of language and according to biblical usage. The Song of Solomon describes the first love and marriage of Solomon before he became king. The Holy Spirit uses the Song to teach his people the ways, means, and joys of friendship and love, courtship and marriage, home and family
