A Ring of Rubies

Rosamund Lindley, an English girl, beseeches a wealthy but eccentric relative to aid her in a cherished project; he dismisses her with a promise of answering her definitely after a week, and within that time dies, bequeathing to Rosamund an antique ruby ring.
