Description
THE THIRD EYE MIRACLE is a spiritual-adventure/women's fiction set in two different continents—North America and India. The story revolves around a young and beautiful woman Eliza Wright who lives with her husband Dave, and their three year old son Daniel in Denver, Colorado. One fateful day, the Wright couple is totally devastated when they find that Daniel is suffering from the dreaded Alpers’ Syndrome, a disease that invariably ends the life of a defenseless child. The doctors treating the child also presume that the case is terminal. In the midst of utter despair, Eliza has a recurring dream of an Indian God inside a cavern of a beautiful island, and an octogenarian Guru seated in meditation there offering her help. Eliza’s instinct links the dreams to the unusual illness of her ailing son. Her husband, however, chooses to dismiss the idea. Meanwhile, Eliza, while meeting her closest friend Julie in the latter’s office, discovers the identity of the stubby idol of her dream as Lord Jagannath who is worshipped in a famous temple at Puri, a coastal town along the Bay of Bengal in India. She decides to go to India along with Julie to seek help for her ailing son. Dave, however, tries to dissuade her with an assurance that he will try and find the best possible treatment in USA itself. When Eliza persists, he refuses to let Daniel go along with her to India. He goes to the extent of threatening her with divorce if she deserts the seriously ill child who needed his mother the most at that point of time. Despite the divorce threat and the ensuing possibility of an uncertain future notwithstanding, Eliza leaves for India together with Julie. Once in India, Eliza and Julie, in the company of a common friend Sandy, visit Puri during the annual Chariot Festival of Lord Jagannath. While witnessing the festival and discussing about Eliza’s problems, they meet a local resident, Hari, who offers the much needed help—for a price, nonetheless— to take the three friends to a hermitage in a distant island, thereby setting in motion a spiritual healing process for Eliza’s son. A series of grim trials and tribulations begin for the young Eliza as she goes through one of the longest and toughest journeys of her life. Undeterred by the dangerous routes leading to the island, the harsh living conditions in the hermitage, a falling health and numerous other adversities, she ultimately accomplishes her goal. Her amazing single-mindedness and resolute meditation finally results in a distant cure for her son then hospitalized in a hospital at faraway Denver. The story of this spiritual adventure has a happy ending when Dave, regretting his mistakes and misapprehensions, comes to India and fetches his wife back home and to Daniel, now a fully fit 3-year-old miraculously restored back to normal health.
