Description

I could call this book Teacher911, or Help for Teachers, or Teaching: A Survival Manual. If you are thinking about a career in Education……. If you are in the middle of a Teacher Training Program……. If you are Certified to Teach at last and perhaps in debt……. If you are hired and starting your career….. If you have a few years of Teaching under your belt or you are Mid Career… You need to read this book! When I retired after 30 plus years as a teacher and school principal, I kept thinking about what you really need to know for survival and success. As a school principal, I always made the effort to hire the newbies and gave them a chance, especially if they showed good work ethic and genuinely cared about kids. I remember helping so many young ones around the Reality of the Situations they did not envision when first starting their careers. Some stuck it out and some just quit. Before you start a career in Teaching or continue, this book is a good read that will help you realize you are not alone and prepare you for what you need to know and what you need to do. I have written this in the familiar. I don’t want it to look like, or sound like a text book. There is something here for everyone. You don’t need to start at the beginning and drudge through it. Pick a chapter that catches your interest first. I would hope that the Situations in this book jumpstart conversations among educators; some saying, " Yes, I know what she means here. I have had similar experiences and I have another helpful suggestion to share..." Well, DO just that! Share it with others! That is how we become good teachers. Make this book work for you so that one day you will look back and sing "Thanks for the memories!
