My Soul to Keep (Volume 1)

It has been called many things. It used to be called multiple personality, but the name itself was shrouded by layers of misconceptions. Now it has a more clinical-sounding name, one that I feel is even more woefully inaccurate. I still refer to it as a separated personality. This book became an integral part of my own healing process. It began it as a personal journal more than twenty years ago when my separate personalities decided that it was time to make their voices heard. This book has many authors, from the earliest children that 'died' and became ghosts, to those parts that inhabit the darkest, loneliest places of the soul. This book is an attempt to explain multiple personality from the inside out. From the very roots of why and how it happened to the reasons why separating became absolutely necessary for survival. But it is also a book of hope and encouragement, for we still believe, after it all, that the human spirit is indomitable and that, in the end, truth and faith can prevail against unspeakable abuse and repression. It is a reflection of the human soul stripped bare. It is like shattered, jagged pieces of glass put back together again in the same frame. It is, ultimately, the triumph of the human soul against the destructive forces of evil.
