The Man in the Moon

It follows the Man in the Moon's adventures, as, feeling sad and realising that he has no one to play with, he slides down to the earth on a moonbeam in search of friends. The man in the moon woke up early one night For, of course, he'd slept in the day And he said, It's so dark, better turn on my light And then I'll go outside to play . So he switched on his moon lamp, which lit up the sky And with a stretch and a sigh and a yawn He got out of bed, quickly washed and got dressed And went out to play until dawn Every night, without change, it was always the same And he'd talk to the stars far away And invite them to visit, perhaps play a game But he found they had nothing to say. And he felt all alone and he longed for a friend To come and perhaps stay the night And to make it easy to see him, when he left the house He was sure to leave on his bed light But every night he would play until morning alone Until he went back to his home And he'd lay down and cry as he switched off the moonlight And wish that he wasn't alone. Then one night he thought, feeling sorry for myself All these years, has just got me nowhere And he looked down at the earth and said If no one comes here Then I will just have to got there So he switched on the moon light, packed up a snack And went off in search of his dream 'Though he knew that by morning, he'd have to be back He slid down to earth on a beam. He had such a good time that he often returns And sometime he loses his way Which is why now and then when you look at the sky You see the moon shining by day And you know on those mornings, the man in the moon Came down to make friends and play But did not go home before morning arrived. So he stayed on the earth for the day. When the moon shines in the morning, it means that his light Has not been switched off in his room. So if a moon beam should shine, in your window tonight Then you might meet the Man In The Moon.
