The first missions to explore other solar systems are lonely, brutal, and have no chance of return. With few quality candidates willing to take those missions, the military began a secret program of copying their best astronauts, body, mind and soul. Born into slavery, this culture of clones has become the greatest advantage the USSA has ever possessed, and has built an empire in space. They are considered nothing more than pieces of equipment, are often executed when their missions are complete, and they exist against international law. Their only salvation, is going to sleep every night, and dreaming a day in the life of the real scientists that they were copied from back on Earth, a Checkpoint. The clones find themselves on the forefront of the most important scientific discovery in human history, an extraterrestrial garden paradise where every creature is genetically engineered, and networked into a vast alien data sphere. While researching the planet and searching for the intelligent life that built it, one by one, the clones stop following orders, and begin attempting to build their own army on the surface. When the Chinese Military arrives, and nuke the American base, the scattered survivors are hunted down and killed as they struggle to tap into the alien cyberspace.
