The Renegade is the harrowing memoir of a boy becoming a man in a culture he opposes. Born and raised to be a devout fundamental Muslim, in both Iran and Syria, the author has provided a very intimate view of a tumultuous culture as it progresses through its most violent civil war to date. The beliefs of his ancestors were engrained in him from the first breath taken yet a desire persists within, to change a cruel and unforgiving belief system.
