Bloodlust: Prose and Poetry

After years of writing poetry and being published in various magazines and online publications such as Gothesque Magazine, Aurora Desmond has published her first anthology of poetry and prose. She blends the macabre with raw emotions, tackling issues such as gender identity and depression. As a transgender woman, Desmond does not hold back on such issues. Blending personal issues with her love of horror and fantasy, her poetry is truly unique, bringing to mind such writers as Charles Baudelaire, Sylvia Plath, and Edgar Allen Poe. In the only short story of the collection "Bloodlust", four teenagers meet a drifter and are tempted with sex, drugs, rock & roll, and eternal life. The strikingly vivid erotic tale is set in New England with plenty of musical references and Desmond's lyrical, precise prose.
