Guidelines for Antithrom-Botic Therapy

Thrombosis, an important complication of atherosclerosis and of other various medical and surgical conditions, can be prevented and treated effectively by a variety of pharmacologic agents. The American College of Chest Physicians (ACCP) published proceedings of their first consensus conference on antithrombotic therapy in 1986. In the last fourteen years, there has been enormous growth in the field, due to the development of new and more powerful pharmacologic agents. This monograph provides a summary of the 2000 ACCP recommendations for pharmacologic agents, together with a brief review of the background data on which the therapeutic recommendations are based.
